Gerhardt M. and Kathrina (Wiens) Pankratz. On July 11, 1931, he married Elizabeth
Catherine MERO at Hutchinson. He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II
in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was preceded in death by brothers, John,
Sam, Albert, Dan, Otto, and Harry; and sisters, Martha Heidebrecht, Margaret
Heibert, and Mary Penner. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Susan and husband
John W. Scott of Hutchinson; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and
brother, Walter Pankratz of Reedley, Calif. . Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery

The deceased was born in Russia, and had lived here since 1926. Survivors are
his wife, Mrs. Rosa PAUL; four daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Herman of Seattle,
Wash.; Mrs. Doris Toussant of Santa Clara, Cal.; Mrs Pauline Meissner of Fondulac,
Was.; and Mrs Mary Amen of Scottsbluff, Neb.; and four sons. John Jr., of La
Salle, Alex and Gottleib of Fort Collins and Ben Paul of Lincoln, Neb. A male
quartet composed of Alex Zimmerman, Henry Zimmerman, Jacob G. Klein and Reuben
Rothe accompanied by Rev. Fritsche, sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Only
Sleeping". Interment was made in the cemetery at Evans, Colo. in the family
plot. The paulbearers were Conrad Bauer, George Zimmerman, Fred Kummer, John
Wirtz, Jacob Zimmerman and John Aradt.

She came to Marion county from Europe in 1876. Mrs. Maria Ehrlich nee Pauls
was born May 12, 1863. Mrs. Ehrlich came to the United States of America with
her parents at the age of 13 years and settled at Lehigh. In 1882 she was united
in marriage to Karl EHRLICH. To this union were born 4 sons and 4 daughters.
Mrs. Ehrlich was preceded in death by her beloved husband, March 12, 1931, and
two sons, Karl and Herbert. Mrs. Ehrlich leaves to mourn her departure, six
children with their loved ones: Bernard, Costa Mesa, Calif.; Dr. Albert, Tacoma,
Wash.; Mrs. Mary Ditt, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Martha Oberfell, South Bend, Ind.;
Mrs. J. S. Buller and husband, Burdick; Mrs. Arthur Pankratz and husband, Wheaton,
Ill., 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Susie Todd,
Denver, Colo., Mrs. Lizzie Wieble, Ulysses, Kans. Miss Donna Pankratz and Otto
Funk sang several hymns. They were accompanied by Mrs. John D. Hett. Pallbeareres

to mourn her loss, her husband, children, one grandchild, one brother, Will

in the Rosette Community north of Sylvan Grove, Kansas. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Naomi (FLOREA) Peck; a son, Roger; two sisters, Helen Vonada an
Enid :Peck; and a brother, Leslie Earl Peck. Left to mourn his death are five
sisters, Ivis Meitler and Lila (Courtney) Hanzlicek, Salina; Wilda Dillet and
Ruth Morray, Topeka; Vera Meyer, Sylvan Grove; a brother Wendell (Lorna) Peck,
White Bear Lake, Minnesota; a granddaughter, Noelle (Bobby) Pray, and two great-grandchildren,
Robert and Andrew, Bend, Oregon; many nieces, nephews, friends and former business
associates. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1943

Interment was made in the cemetery at Russell. Mr. Peil is survived by two daughters
and three sons. They are Mrs. John Fanestil of this city, Mrs. Katie Reinhardt,
who lives north of Russell, Alex Piel of Oil Hill, Kansas, Fred Peil of Russell
and Gottfried Peil of Gorham. Mrs. Piel died last summer. John Fanestil and
sons, Rudolph, Ed and Carl of this city attended the funeral but Mrs. Fanestil
was unable to attend on account of illness. Mr. Piel is also survived by twenty-nine
grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren (Note: The spelling or mispelling
of the surname is what appeared in the newspaper

Catherine POPE. To this union 9 children were born, all of whom survive him.
ON October 22, 1927, his wife passed away. On May 28, 1928, he was again united
in marriage to Bertha (Karst) WAGNER at Great Bend, Kansas. There was one son
born to this marriage who also survives him. Surviving him are, his wife, Mrs.
Bertha Peil; the nine children by his first marriage: Edwin of Atchison, Kansas;
Reuben of Kansas City; Milton, Rochester, N.Y.; Leo, of Omaha, Nebr.; Paul,
of Concordia, Kan.; LeRoy, of Norton, Kan.; Mrs. Davis, Phillipsburg, Kansas;

In 1891 his parents, Adam and Christina Peil, came with their family from Schumae,
Russia to America to settle in Russell, Kansas. In October 1920 he was united
in marriage to Catherine POPE. To this union 9 children were born, all of whom
survive him. On October 22, 1927, his wife passed away, and on May 28, 1928,he
was again united in marriage to Bertha (KARST) WAGNER at Great Bend, Kansas.
There was one son born to this marriage who also survives him. Surviving him

HENRY PEIL SR. born Aug. 3, 1878, in Holstein-Vulga, River area, in Russia.
Died Jan. 29, 1961 in Bay City, MI. (Henry was my grandfather.) He was married
to Margarett (Yung) YOUNG, on Dec. 30, 1902, in Russia. Margarett was born May
30, 1881, in a village called Rudic (Rudick). She died in Bay City, MI on Apr.
9, 1939. He came to the US on the SS Hanover from Bremem 14 Dec. 1911, and arriving
in Galveston 9 Jan. 1912. They went to Shattuck OK, to live with a sister of
Carl Peil’s grandmother- Margaret Young (Yung)Peil. On page 450 of History of
Lipscomb County, is information about the Jacob Herber family. Frederick Herber
was the sponsor for my Dads family. Jacob Herber, Frederick Herber’s brother,
was married to Katharina Elizabeth Yung, - Margaret Young Peil. They moved to
Bay City, MI, to be with Henry’s half-brothers. (Laubhans) He was survived by
his children: 2 sons, and 2 daughters - Godfrey and Lila Peil, Jack and (Catherine)
Bell, Martin and (Molly) Reinhardt, Henry and Minnie Peil Jr, and 2 half brothers:

In 1891 Reubin’s grandparents, Adam and Christina Peil, and his father, Fredrick
Peil, immigrated from Schumme, Russia and settled in the Russell, Kansas area.
His father, Fredrick, married Catherine Pope in October, 1910, and Reubin was
the seond of nine children After leaving the Russell area, Reubin married Elsie
DREW of Bushton, Kansas, and two children, Larry and Shirley, were born, In
1939 Reubin married Ila McMULLEN of Pratt, Kansas, and four children, Stanley,
Fredrick, Janice and Mitchell, were born of this union. All of the children
survive him. Surviving Reubin are the two children of his first marriage: Larry,
and Shirley Tabor; the four children of his second marriage: Stanley; Frederick;
Janice Jones, and Mitchelli. Also surviving him are four brothers: Edwin, Atchison,
Kansas; Leo, Omaha, Nebraska; Milton, Rochester, New ork, Leroy, Norton, Kansas,

Eva was born on March 16, 1922, in Billings, the third of eight children of
Annie Martin and J. Herman Peterson. Eva met her future husband, Omar W. POGUE,
in 1935, when he came from Brockway to board with her family while attending
business school. They were married on Jan. 15, 1945, at the First Congregational
Church, in their service uniforms. Eva and Omar had one daughter and three sons
between July 1946 and December 1953. Eva was preceded in death by her husband
Omar in 1989; and her daughter, Deborah Pogue Coleman of Seattle in 2001. She
is survived by three brothers, Jim Peterson of Billings, Wes Peterson of Houston
and Gene Peterson of North Carolina; her three sons and their wives, Gary and
Sheri Pogue of Billings, David and Marilyn Lyons-Pogue of Billings, and Ronald
Pogue and Kye Cochran of Quechee, Vt.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

in the parsonage of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ellsworth,. To this
union, three children were born. Laurence predeceased Philetha on June 6, 1979.
Philetha met Alan A. WEIDE of Lindsborg and they were married on July
3, 1981. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, her daughter, Lois Gier
and husband Harvey; her son, Lewis Ray and wife Johnnie; and her son, Austin
Ray and wife Carolyn; a stepson, Joel A. Weide; three grandchildren, Mike Propp
and wife Diane, Mark Propp and Jeffrey Ray. There are two great-grandchildren
and many other relatives and friends. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.

Pleskovsky married Marie TSCHAOPSKY Sept. 19, 1919, in Alexandrovsk, Russia.
He fought in the anti-Communist White Army during the Russian civil war. He
and his wife were forced to evacuate from Sevastopol, on the Black Sea, with
a retreating White Army contingent in 1920. The family settled in Paris where
Pleskovsky worked as a cab driver and pedicurist. Pleskovsky and his wife left
France for Argentia in 1948 and joined their daughter in Denver in 1952. Survivors
include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Olga Bibb of Denver and two grandchildren,

Maneth, Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by a brother, Ray; and two sisters, Emma Kaiser and Edna

Polzin. On May 21, 1949, he married Georgia E. TITTLE in Great Bend. She survives.Other

Mary Lou Kultgen, Flower Mound, Texas; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Daughter of Jacob Popp and Marie Elisabeth Nee Ochs. In December 1891, she came
to America with her brother, Jacob Popp. On February 7, 1892, she united in
marriage to John G. BRACK of Otis. To this union six children were born, two
passing away in childhood. Her husband passed away on March 23 of this year.
Surviving her are her four children: Mrs. Matilda Brauer of Omaha, Nebraska;
Sam of Russell; Fred of Hoisington; and Elmer of Denver, Colorado. Also one

on July 15, 1942. He then married Mollie Schneider on Aug. 28, 1947 in Hoisington.

HOISINGTON - Sigmond and Stefanie Popp, both 77, died the same day within sight
of each other in Hoisington home on March 11, 1994, said niece Edna Wegele.
Known as "Sig & Steffi" , the couple spent some of last year together traveling
to other continents including her homeland, Germany. Her mother, Stefanie Lentz,
later moved to United Stastes, and married an. American. Now buried in this
country. He had a sister in Ness City, Pauline Maier; and one in Russell, Rachel
Nuss.

and Lilly Mae (Heinze) Prester. He was preceded in death by his father, an infant
son Jonathan, and his wife, Imogene Prester in 1993. Survivors incude his sweetheart,
Nancy Jo Leachman of Salina, three sons Kurtis Prester of Russell, Kevin Prester
of Wilson, and Marty Prester of Frisco, Texas; his mother, Lilly Mae Prester
of Dorrance and a grandchild. He is also survived by four brothers Larry Prester
of Bartlesville, Oklahloma, Terry Prester of Lyons, Kansas, his twin, Leon Prester
of Salina and Gary Prester of Russell, and two sisters Mary Fern Bickelman of
Weatherly, Pennsylvania, and Patty Jo Kaufman of Houston, Texas. Additional
