Surviving Elaine are three daughters; Patricia Barron, Jennifer (David) Albright and Beth Bush, all of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Dawn Barron of Chicago, IL and Michelle Barron, Stephanie and Melissa Albright, all of Sheboygan. Surviving him are the wife; three sons, George Jar. of Denver, Clarence in California and Albert of Seattle, Wash.; three daughters, Jeannie Brooks of Hotchkiss, Pearl Bleep of Northglenn and Mary Match of Buena Vista; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery. He brought his family to America in 1900, settling at Okeene, Oklahoma. After farming there until 1914, he and Mrs. Meier moved to Windsor. The latter passed away here in 1948. The Meiers had four daughters, but none survive. There are several grandchildren, including Mrs. Fred Meyer of Windsor and S. A. Nuss of Greeley. Fred Meyer is a nephew of the deceased, as are Conrad and George Meyer, both of Greeley.

In 1919, she was united in marriage to Henry H. KELLN at Shattuck. To this union two children were born: Harry E. and Newman C. Kelln. Preceding her in death was her husband, Henry H. Kelln; her sons, Samuel Faust, Harry E. Kelln and Newman C. Kelln who was killed in action in WW II. Her stepsons, Solomon Kelln and Huldrich Kelln; Stepdaughters, Mary Bay, Jr. and Esther Dieterle. MEIER Reunion

On July 14-15-16, 2000 the descendans of Fred and Martha (Koch) Meier gathered at the Northwest Inn in Woodward. Harriett and Bob Wahler and Connie Olivas were the hosts for the reunion. On Saturday morning many family members toured the old home places at Shattuck and Arnett and the Lutheran and Shattuck cemeteries where family members are buried.
Saturday afternoon 43 family members gathered for a meeting, pictures and visiting. The highlights of the afternoon were a presentation of slides and pictures by Rev. Ray Meier of Canyon, Tex., of his trips to Russia where he visited at Erlenbach, the birthplace of his grandad Meier. The village is no longer there, but he toured the area and cemeteries and visited with local people. He presented the four remaining children, Walter, Ruby, Alberta and Martha N. with special gifts from there. Also everyone enjoyed hearing a taped message and German song from Elmer Oblander, who was unable to attend. Harriett is putting together a Keepsake book of Family Memorabilia and will continue adding to it as she receives new material. The next reunion will be in 2002 in Colorado, with Karen Dillon and Connie Olivas as hosts.

Margaret and her twin were born to Sioux County pioneers Clyde A. and Mina Wurtz Mendenhall at their ranch home 20 miles south of Harrison. While she was teaching, she met and married Benjamin BERTSCH, a merchant. Ben died in 1953. Two boys were born to the couple, Robert (Bobby) Lee Bertsch in 1939 and Larry Dean Bertsch in 1941. Her son, Bobby, died in 1970. Survivors include her son, Larry of Chadron; nieces, Beth Wells Carlson of Ardmore, Okla., and Connie Wells Nowlan of Boulder, Colo.; cousins, Evan I. Owens of Lewistown, Mont., Marguarita M. Owens Slenning of Seattle, Wash., Ellen Mendenhall Strasburger of Ellsworth, Neb., Lewis J. Mendenhall of Chadron, A. Willard Mendenhall of Wilsonville, Ore.; seven great nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.
