MITCHELL - Ray Russell, 82, passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010 in Scottsbluff. Born Oct. 18, 1927, in Mitchell and was raised on farms in and around the Russell family farm in Mitchell Valley. Following his grandmother's death in 1963, Ray and his wife RUTH (BRETHOUR) bought the Russell family homestead in Mitchell Valley and moved there in 1964. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children, Kathy Russell (Doug Stephens) of Douglas Wyo., Karen Moore (Jack) of Prescott Ariz., and Connie Goers (Mike) of Scottsdale Ariz. and son, Ron Russell (Wanda) of Torrington; grandchildren, Kate Painter, Keturah Lawton (Tim), Amy Painter, Lori Russell, Levi Painter (Trisha) and Jim Russell (Amanda); great-grandchildren, Preston and Thomas Painter, Wyatt and Randy Peters, Ian, Erik and Jetta Lawton, and Lydia Painter; brother, Jack Russell of Denver, sisters-in-law, Char (Bob) Russell of Firestone Colo., Melba (Bill) Russell Stager of Morrill, and nieces and nephews. On Aug. 26, 1948, she married PERCY WILBERT RIFFEL. Mr. Riffel preceded her in death on June 13, 1999.
