McPHERSON - Jacob Yost Jr., 79, died Jan. 21, 2008, in Hutchinson.
He was born Dec. 19, 1928, in Copeland, the son of Jacob and Carrie Schmidt Yost. A resident of McPherson, he was a brick mason owning and operating Yost Masonry Contractor, until retiring, and then was a public accountant. He belonged to American Legion Post No. 24, McPherson.
On May 26, 1956, he married Virginia Mae JANTZ. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Brian D., McPherson; a daughter, Abigail A. White, Wichita; two brothers, Earvey, Woodward, Okla., and Conrad, Iroquois, S.D.; a sister, Pearl Smith, Dalhart, Texas; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer, Rollin, Martin and Harold Yost; and four sisters, Irene Yost, Della Yost, Katie Koehn, and Bertha Schmidt.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morning Star Congregation, Durham. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Glidden Ediger Funeral Home Chapel, McPherson, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be sent to Morning Star Congregation, in care of the funeral home.
