Sam Abraham Quiring, 94, died March15, 2008, at Goessel. Born March 11, 1914, at Mountain Lake, Minn., he was the son of Abraham and Elizabeth (Goossen) Quiring. On Sept. 1, 1949, he married Elva Ratzlaff. The couple lived most of their lives on a farm near Mountain Lake, Minn. They moved to Goessel in 1998, to be near their children.

Survivors include son, Dennis Quiring of Newton; two daughters, Grace Bartel of Newton and Clarice Hostetler of Dodge City; three sisters, Frieda Toews of Cincinnati, Ohio, Adeline Friesen of Freeman, S.D., and Geneva Stoesz of Mountain Lake, Minn.; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Goessel. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel, with Linda Ewert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial funds have been established with Bethesda Home or Mennonite Central Committee.
