PLAINS - Ruth M. Geisinger was born on October 29, 1925, on a farmstead southeast of Plains, Kansas, one of twin daughters of Olus and Myra Klein Vail and departed this life on November 21, 2007, after a lengthy illness at the age of 82 years and 23 days in Johnson, Kansas.
Ruth attended and graduated from Plains High School in 1943. After graduation, she worked at the Plains State Bank until her marriage on March 12, 1947, to Forest Lee GEISINGER in Kinsley, Kansas. To this union three children were born, Richard Lee, Vicki Lynn, and Clayton Olus.
Ruth and Forest farmed in the Plains and Satanta areas and in 1949, they moved to Lycan, Colorado. In the fall of 1953, they moved back to Plains to farm. Later, in 1972, after the death of Ruth's father, they moved back to Lycan where they have resided since.
While living in Plains, Ruth was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 104 for over fifty years, serving as a Past Worthy Matron. She was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed playing bridge with the B-4-2 Club while living in Plains, and on occasion when visiting in Plains after moving to Colorado.
She was a member of the Plains United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school to young children with the help of Max Roberts for many years. During her years in Colorado, she was secretary of a local investment club and a member of the Buffalo Community Club. She enjoyed traveling when time allowed, gardening, and enjoyed reading.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 60 years, Forest Lee; her children, Rick and wife Loraine Geisinger of Walsh, Colorado; Vicki Cox and husband, Mike of Meade, Kansas; and Clayton and wife, Danita Geisinger of Holdrege, Nebraska. Ruth was blessed with 7 grandchildren; Michelle Scheer and husband, Rick of Goddard, Kansas; Justin Geisinger and wife, Laura of McClave, Colorado; Jennifer Godfrey of Meade, Kansas; Amy Mertens and husband, Todd of McPherson, Kansas; Heather Schlochtermeier and husband, Jason of Ellinwood, Kansas; Jayde and Keegan Geisinger of Holdrege, Nebraska; and 9 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Courtney, and Natalie Scheer, Ryan and Taylor Geisinger, Caden and Carson Godfrey, Breckyn Martens, and Madisyn Schlochtermeier.
Ruth is also survived by her twin sister, Ruby Hamm of Plains, Kansas; a stepsister, Fonda Whitehead and husband, George of Walsh, Colorado; uncle Bill Klein and wife, Janice of Tribune, Kansas; and nephews, Terry Hamm of Liberal, Kansas; and Mike Hamm and wife, Jacque of Plains, Kansas.
Memorial services will be held Monday, November 26, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. MST at the First Baptist Church, Walsh, Colorado. Following on Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. a memorial service will be held at the Plains United Methodist Church, Plains, Kansas, with the Reverend Terry Mayhew presiding. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, to sign the guest register. The casket will remain closed. Private family interment will be in the Plains Cemetery, Plains. The family would welcome memorials to the Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America, Plains United Methodist Church, or the First Baptist Church, Walsh, Colorado, all in care of the mortuary.

KIOWA - Bernice Mae Spicer, died Sept. 7, 2007, at Kiowa District Hospital.
She was born Dec. 12, 1921, in Alfalfa County, Okla., the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Gillig Vogel.
Survivors include: a son, Sam, Hazelton; a brother, Albert Junior Vogel; a sister, Virginia Vogel Scott; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; a son, Stanley Spicer; two daughters, Susan Spicer Luthi and Karen Spicer, two brothers, John Vogel and Richard Vogel; and a sister, Marguerite Vogel Brown.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hazelton. Lanman Funeral Home, Kiowa, is in charge of arrangements. NOTE: Husband - George Spicer

LEWISTOWN - Glenn E. Vogl, 68, a Brooks area rancher, died suddenly Thursday afternoon, May 3, 2007, at the Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown.
He was born July 13, 1938, the son of George and Clara (Weinheimer) Vogl in Lewistown. He spent his younger years on the family farm in Glengarry and went to grade school there and then attended high school at Fergus High School in Lewistown, graduating in 1956. He then started at Montana State University at Bozeman, until he was drafted into the Army. After the required two years of active duty he returned to Montana State University, serving his two final years in the Army Reserve. While at MSU, he met Louise M. SNAPP and they were united in marriage on Sept. 27, 1959, in Lewistown. They moved to a ranch north of Brooks, where they farmed and ranched until his death.
He is survived by his wife Louise of Lewistown; children Jerry of Lewistown, Deborah Vogl of Denver, Suzanne DeMers of Brandon, Vt., Kathryn Dey of Decatur, Texas, Judith Trutna of Yuba City, Calif., Linda Revenaugh of Belgrade and Mariann Amundson of Bozeman; his mother, Clara Vogl of Lewistown; brothers Jim of Lewistown, Gene of Lewistown; sisters Carol Gamell of Great Falls and Lois Desimone of Litchfield, N.H.; 18 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father George.
Funeral liturgy for Glenn E. Vogl will be Thursday, May 10, at 10 a.m., in St. Leo's Catholic Church, with committal to follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Vigil services will be Wednesday, May 9, at 6 p.m., in St. Leo's Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 8, from 4 to 8 p.m., and Wednesday, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Cloyd Chapel. The Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Friends are asked to make memorial to the Glenn E. Vogl Memorial Scholarship Fund for FFA students studying agriculture or the charity of their choice and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home. FORD - Rita Pauline Herrmann, 80, died Nov. 15, 2007, at Minneola Long Term Care Center, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Wright, the daughter of Herman P. and Catherine Elizabeth Elfener Heinen Vogel. A lifetime area resident, was a homemaker.
She belonged to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Altar Society, both at Dodge City.
On Oct. 7, 1948, she married George A. HERRMANN at Wright. He survives.
Other survivors include: five sons, Ronnie, Ford, Tom, Sherman, Texas, John, Dodge City, David, El Paso, Texas, and Danny, Dodge City; a daughter, Mary Michelle Jantz, Ennis, Texas; two brothers, Leonard Vogel, Waco, Texas, and Ray Vogel, Houston; a sister, Sister Irene Vogel, Wichita; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mark; four brothers, Clarence, Ed, Al and Jim Vogel; and a sister, Sister Sarah Vogel.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Father Ted A. Skalsky presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. NORTH NEWTON - Larry Voth, 73, died Oct. 27, 2007, at Kidron Bethel Retirement Service, North Newton.
He was born March 19, 1943, in Goessel, the son of Jacob A. and Maria Unruh Voth. He graduated from Walton High School. He attended Bethel College, North Newton, and graduated from the Mennonite Biblical Seminary, Elkhart, Ind. He served as pastor of the Community Mennonite Church, Markham, Ill. for 121/2 years. Beginning in 1973, he served as director of development at Bethel College, retiring in 2001.
On Sept. 2, 1956, he married Jane NYCE in Pretty Prairie. She survives.
Other survivors include: daughters, Laurie Regehr and husband, Donovan, Halstead, Leslie Stephan and husband, Lauran, Mount Hope, Linda Mueller and husband, Dwight, North Newton; brother Harold L. and wife, Vernelle, Haven; brother-in-law Jona Reimer, Walton; sister-in-law Clara, Hesston; grandsons Jordon, Justin and Jared Regehr, and Taylor Stephan; granddaughter Sydney Stephan; nephews Delbert Reimer, and John, Doug and Vance Voth; nieces Roberta VanderMollen, Mary Cookie Voth, Nadine Reimer-Penner and Vernita Schrag.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred G.; a sister, Gladys Reimer; and a granddaughter, Whitney Stephan.
Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel College Mennonite Church. Visitation was 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Faith Mennonite Church. Memorials may be sent to Bethel College, Faith Mennonite Church or Community Mennonite Church, in care of the funeral home.

MOUNDRIDGE - Marlin Vogt, 82, died July 28, 2007, at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge. He was born July 8, 1925, in McPherson County, the son of Jonas H. Vogt and Anna Kaufman. He was a lifetime area resident. He graduated from Moundridge High School in 1943 and was a farmer. He belonged to the Eden Mennonite Church. On Dec. 13, 1958, he married Sylvia M. REUSSER in North Newton. She survives. Other survivors include: one son, Royce, Harper; two daughters; Cindy Anderson, Albuquerque, N.M., and Deanne Loganbill, Moundridge; one brother, Weldon Vogt, Hesston; and five sisters, Letha Ediger, Inman, Ellen Stucky, Evelyn Goering and Marge Kaufman, all of Moundridge, and Velma Neufeld, Richfield, Minn.; and seven grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge, with Pastors David Stevens and Gail Graber officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Moundridge Funeral Home. Burial will be in Eden Church Cemetery. HESSTON - Alfred G. Voth, 86, died Oct. 6, 2007, at Schowalter Villa, Hesston.
He was born Aug. 23, 1921, in Newton, the son of Jacob A. and Maria Unruh Voth. He worked in lumber yards in the Newton area, then started First Step Industries, and was a teacher until retiring.
He belonged to the First Mennonite Church, Newton, serving on the board of deacons, taught Sunday school, served on the jail ministries, the Walton School Board and the Newton Gideon's International, serving as past president. He served in the military during World War II.
On Feb. 23, 1944, he married Clara NEUFELD in Newton. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, John, Derby; two daughters, Roberta "Birdie" Vandermolen, Morton Grove, Ill., and Mary "Cookie" Wiebe, Newton; two brothers, Harold, Haven, and Lawrence, North Newton; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Reimer; and a granddaughter.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Mennonite Church, Newton, with Pastor Clarence Rempel presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. HESSTON - Alfred H. Voth, 88, died July 26, 2007, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita. He was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Goessel, the son of Henry F. and Elizabeth Schmidt Voth. He had owned and operated a service station. He belonged to Tabor Mennonite Church. On April 2, 1943, he married Rosellas "Rosie" P. FUNK in Hillsboro. She survives. Other survivors include: four sons, Richard, Tulsa, Okla., Kenneth, South Bend, Ind., Dennis, Hesston, and Gerald, Walton; a daughter, Diana Hull, Goodyear, Ariz.; a brother, Ernie, Buffalo Mills, Pa.; three sisters, Marna Abrahams, Goessel, Norma Martenez, Payson, Ariz., and Lila Harris, Newton; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Tabor Mennonite Church, rural Goessel, with Pastor Corey Miller presiding. There will be no visitation. MARION - Eleanor "Ellie" M. Zerger, 81, died Oct. 4, 2007, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.
She was born April 6, 1926, in McPherson, the daughter of David C. and Caroline "Carrie" Stucky Voth. A resident of Marion since 1954, she was a homemaker and worked in retail sales. She belonged to Marion Presbyterian Church.
On Sept. 7, 1944, she married Rueben K. Zerger in rural Moundridge. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Timothy, Bend, Ore.; two daughters, Roxanne Balcacer, Richmond, Mo., and Julie Carr, Fresno, Calif.; a sister, Iva Neufeld, Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Marion Presbyterian Church. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, with the family present at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be sent to Marion Presbyterian Church Camp Scholarship Fund, or to the "Lost and Found" at Marion High School.

NEWTON - Hilmar T. Voth, 93, died April 26, 2007, at Presbyterian Manor, Newton.

He was born June 22, 1913, near Goessel, the son of Henry S. and Elizabeth Dyck Voth. He attended Goessel High School and graduated from Newton High School in 1934. A resident of Newton, he was a printer until retiring in 1983.

He belonged to Grace Community Church, serving there in various capacities, was an active participant in the Mennonite Relief Sale and was a charter member of the Kansas Mennonite Men's Chorus.

On Aug. 24, 1940, he married Ruth PENNER in Newton. She died Oct. 4, 2004.

Survivors include: a son, Gerald, Roeland Park; two daughters, LaDeen Stucky, Newton, and Carol Mychalishyn, Mill Creek, Wash.; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Waldo Voth; a sister, Dora Mayes; and an infant sister, Hulda Voth.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Community Church, with Pastor Dave Reimer and Steve Friesen presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Grace Community Church or the Mennonite Central Committee, both in care of the funeral home.
