Ruth Meter, 83, of Gering, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at Northfield Villa Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Her funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 11 at the Gering Zion Church with Pastors Paul Hebbert and Ted Meter officiating. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Memorials in her name may be made to the Gering Zion Church or to the Community Christian School Foundation. Friends who wish may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 6 p.m. The casket will be closed at the church. Ruth was born April 23, 1924, in Scottsbluff to Henry and Amalie (Weber) Gantz. She attended various schools throughout Scotts Bluff County.
On Jan. 14, 1940, she married FReiny (Reinholdt) Meter at the Bayard Hope Church. This union was blessed with three children, Marlene (Wilbert) Ruppel of Gering, Rick (Judy) Meter of Gering and Bradley (Cindi) Meter of Commerce City, Colo. As a young couple they took care of her deceased sister's child, Carol Mae (Roger) Broadbent of Gering until she was three years old. She was like a daughter throughout life. She continued to be blessed with seventeen grandchildren Debbie (Stan) Stobel, Dee (Joe) Stricker, Shelly (Jeff) Martischewsky, Traci Meter, Keryl (Loren) Geisler, Heidi (Todd) Robertus, Naty (Andres') Fuentes, Christopher Meter, Eric (Jennifer) Meter, Jeremy Palmer, Devin Gilhousen, Laci Gilhousen, Cacy Robinson, Jacob Robinson, Stacey (Schuyler) Powell, Stephanie (Tim) Rouzee and Jamie Broadbent. She additionally had 29 great-grandchildren and counting.
Reiny and Ruth farmed on various farms throughout Scotts Bluff County. During that time Ruth worked as a hostess at Big John's Bar-B-Que Pit in Scottsbluff. In 1966, they moved to Denver, where Ruth worked for the Village Inn as a hostess. During this time she was deemed as the "Hostess With The Mostest from Nebraska," when she had the privilege of serving Tennessee Ernie Ford.
Ruth loved to bowl and was always thrilled when she could bowl a 200 game. She had a proverbial "Green Thumb" and could grow beautiful flowers wherever she lived. She will be sadly missed. She was a member of the Gering Zion Church.
She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and sisters Lydia Kufeldt and Frieda Weimer.
Her parents and numerous brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

Memorial services for Carole Collier, 54, of Hereford will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Meyer of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Collier died Friday at her residence. She was born November 5, 1950, in La Junta, Colorado, to Herbert Grasmick and Dorothy Manweiler Grasmick. She moved to Hereford in 1967 from Sugar City, Colorado. She graduated from Hereford high School in 1968 and married FJerry COLLIER on April 5, 1970, in Hereford. She had been employed by Khuri Surgical for five years and then by Hereford Regional Medical Center for two years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons Todd Collier of Lubbock and Jason Collier of Friona; her mother, Dorothy Grasmick of Hereford; a brother, Gary Grasmick of Delta, Colorado and three grandchildren.

HOXIE -- Anna Caroline Reinert, 103, Hoxie, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007.
Mrs. Reinert was born Anna Caroline Geerdes on May 7, 1904, in Leoti. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, FTheodore (REINERT).
Survivors include two sons, Wilfrid of Hoxie and Dennis of Lamar, Colo.; seven daughters, Mary Ritter of Topeka, Sister Ann M. "Irene" Reinert of Concordia, Madonna Culley of Chanute, Caroline Jacobs of Dresden, Janet Berger of Nicholasville, Ky., Katherine Fitzgibbons of Goodland and Ruth Reinert of Dodge City; 29 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Sequin.

She was born May 7, 1904, near Leoti to Henry Carolina Busche Geerdes. She married FTheodore REINERTon April 24, 1929, in Seguin. He preceded her in death Dec. 20, 1987. She was a homemaker.

LA CROSSE - Ann Herrman, 87, died Aug. 2, 2007, at Rush County Nursing Home, La Crosse.
She was born Sept. 19, 1919, in Hays, the daughter of Peter and Catherine Bach Geier. A resident of Rush County for 67 years, moving from Garden City, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society, both in Liebenthal, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, La Crosse, and the Volga German Society, Hays.
On May 28, 1940, she married FLeonard HERR,MAN in Liebenthal. He survives.
Other survivors include: four daughters, Mary Catherine Brening, Great Bend, Ruth Siress and Elizabeth Richards, both of Overland Park, and Rebecca Joan Schmidt, Fountain Hill, Ariz.; a brother, Florian Geier, Garden City; 11 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Herrman; six brothers; and two sisters.
Vigil service and St. Ann's Altar Society rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, La Crosse, with Father Gilbert Herrman and Father Rene Labrador presiding. Mrs. Hoffman was born Mary Ann Geist on April 27, 1934, in Victoria. She retired from the Bestyet Store in 1996.

Services for Katherine Zimmerman, "Katie" as she was known to most, were held at Roselawn Cemetery in Pueblo, Friday, Aug. 3, 2007.
Mrs. Zimmerman died on July 31, 2007 at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, at the age of 87. She was born on May 15, 1920 in Sugar City, to George and Emma Gerlock. She was one of eight children. She was married to FLoren J. ZIMMERMAN.
Mrs. Zimmerman worked at Parkview Hospital Cafeteria in Pueblo for many years until her age, health and past hard work took it's toll on her.
She was preceeded in death by four of her siblings, Martha Meecham, Sarah Koehler, George Gerlock Jr., and Emma Dodd, and her husband, Loren J. Zimmerman.
Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by three of her siblings, Fred Gerlock and wife Frances, Eddie Gerlock, and Lindy Dodd, grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

Frances Mary Isaacson, 76, of Harlingen, Texas, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at her home. A memorial service was held Feb. 24 at the Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen

A private family service and inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling at a later date.
Mrs. Isaacson was born Oct. 3, 1930, to German-Russian immigrants, Adam and Frances (Appelhans) Gertge, north of Proctor. She was the ninth of 10 children

She received her education in Atwood and Iliff and graduated from St. Anthony’s.
In 1948, she married FDave ISAACSON of Haxtun. They were later divorced.
Mrs. Isaacson is survived by her daughter, Margo and husband Fritz Jaenike of Harlingen; two sons, Kirk and wife Mary Isaacson of St. Charles, Ill., and Brad Isaacson of Benecia, Calif.; four grandchildren; her brother, George and wife Susie Gertge of Sterling; two sisters-in-law, Eva Gertge of Salt Lake City, and Sally Gertge of Sterling; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Jake, John, Phil, Joseph, Adam and Joseph; and two sisters, Mary Rhodes and Catherine Monroe.

Hannah Kummer, 91, of Windsor died Sunday, September 5, (2004), at the Spring Creek Health Care Center, Fort Collins.

She was born November 18, 1912, in Keota to Christopher and Margaret (Brethauer) Gesick.

In October 1933, she married FFred KUMMER in Loveland. He died in June 1992.

Mrs. Kummer grew up in Keota and helped on the family farm in Briggsdale. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and canning food. She loved to cook, which she enjoyed sharing with her family. Above all, she loved time spent with her family.

Survivors are a daughter, Bernice Winsett of Fort Collins; two sons, Gerald Kummer of Briggsdale and Fred Kummer Jr. of Cheyenne; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A sister, Katie Manweiler, and two brothers, Chris Gesick and George Gesick, are deceased.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Adamson Memorial Downtown Chapel. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley. Contributions may be made to the Briggsdale Library Fund in care of Downtown Chapel, 827 5th Street, Greeley, CO 80631.

Harold F. Gies, 77, of Scottsbluff, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Gering Zion Church with Pastor Paul Hebbert officiating. Interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. The Nebraska Army National Guard will give military graveside rites. Friends who wish may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon, and at the funeral. Memorials have been established to the church or to the donor's choice.
Harold was born July 29, 1930, in Lincoln to Wendell and Anna Gies. At an early age he moved with his family to the Wyo-braska area where he grew up and received his education. He served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War, from 1951 until 1953, where he attained the rank of Corporal. He married FRuby GROSKOP of Gering on April 28, 1956, in Denver. He worked for Pacific Fruit, Associated Grocers, and Safeway where he retired. After serving in the military, Harold attended auctioneering school where he became a licensed auctioneer. His enthusiasm for auctioneering could be frequently overheard as he practiced his skill while working in the yard or while doing tasks around the house. Harold stayed close to his farming roots throughout his life. He spent his vacation time stacking hay by hand and he took pride in making perfectly shaped stacks. Harold also enjoyed driving beet truck for family and friends during harvest.
He was a lifetime member of the church where he served as deacon and treasurer. Harold loved to polka dance. He will be remembered for his never tiring ability to spin his partners around the dance floor. He was a past member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge, and was a current member of the Cheyenne Polka Club.
Family was very important to Harold. He had a deep love and concern for his grandchildren. He will be remembered as "Harry" by many of his friends and as a caring dad by his children. His strong work ethic and faith in the Lord made him a very special person. See you in heaven tough guy!

On a Thursday, April 23, 1959, Kathleen Terri Giesick was born to Adam and Clara Giesick in Billings. She was the fourth of five children.
On June 3, 2007, Terri passed away at her home in Billings of breast cancer; she fought a long and heroic battle. And during that battle, there was always a smile.
Terri grew up on the family farm in Shepherd. She attended Pioneer Progressive Grade School and graduated from Shepherd High School. Terri worked for the County Attorney's Office as Office Manager for 21 years. She was currently working at Global Crossing. Terri loved to travel, especially to Mexico. Terri was very much the adventurer at heart. She loved to garden and do beadwork. Terri would make the most beautiful bracelets, necklaces, pins and ornaments. Terri also collected hearts.
On Oct. 13, 2006, Terri collected her most important heart, the man of her dreams, FHarry HOVING. They were married in Jamaica.
Terri always felt that the most important things in her life were home, family and friends.
Preceding her in death was her father Adam Giesick; her parental grandparents, John and Katherine Giesick; her maternal grandparents, Edward and Pauline Siewert; and also her loving pet, "Charlie the Dog."
Survivors include her husband, Harry; her mother, Clara Giesick from Billings; her sister, Susan (Tom) Kaiser from Billings, their children, Pete, Garry, Leeann and Jody; three brothers, Scott (Kathy) Giesick of Forsyth and their children, Jenna, Amber, Chris and Carrie, Bill (Valerie) Giesick from Billings and their children, Adam, Michael and Curtis, Dennis (Donna) Giesick from Billings and their children, Eric, Joshua and Shawn; sister-in-law, Patty (Ron) Dod and their children, Allison, Daniel and Ronnie of Florida; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Terri will be missed tremendously by all who knew her. She will always have a special place in our hearts. God, please take care of our wife, daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend. We all love her so much.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a prayer gathering at the Cremation or Funeral Gallery at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 9. Following the gathering, there will be a celebration of Terri's life at North Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. PLAINS - Noval L. Langhofer, 97, died July 2, 2007, at the Wheatridge Park Care Center, Liberal.

She was born November 23, 1909, in Taswell, Ind., the daughter of Aaron M. and Lilly Mae Tucker Gilliatt. She attended the Plains school system. In 1956, she purchased the Star Crest Motel, owning and operating until retiring in 1975. On June 18, 1927, she married F William W. "Bill" LANGHOFER in Meade.

She belonged to United Methodist Church, was a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as a past Worthy Matron, Secretary for eighteen years, and receiving her 50- year pin, and was a 50-year member of the Royal Neighbors and served as the secretary for several years.

She is survived by two sons, Gene Langhofer, Napa, Calif. and Darrell Langhofer, rural Plains; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; and a sister, Opal E. Gilliatt.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Plains, with the Reverend Terry Mayhew presiding. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will be in the Plains Cemetery.

Ann was born Jan. 12, 1907, in Garden City, Kan. to Casper and Catherine (Schmidt) Ginther. As a child she moved to Scottsbluff in 1914 where she attended school and later graduated from Scottsbluff High School. Ann and FCy CUTTER were married on June 16, 1935, in Big Timer, Mont. She and Cy lived in Virginia while he was in the military. They then moved back to Montana where they owned and operated the "Paradise Café." After retiring, Ann and Cy returned to Scottsbluff in 1971.
Ann was a very involved and active member of Gering Zion Church, and the Scottsbluff-Gering Eagles Aerie & Auxiliary where she served as past president, and was a faithful member of the American Legion for over 50 years. Her family fondly referred to her as "Ninee" and they will miss her greatly.
She is survived by her sister Emelia (Bart) Grubbs of Longmont, Colo., sister-in-law, Maxine Ginther of Gering and numerous nephews and nieces.
Preceding Ann in death were her parents, her husband Cy on May 6, 1985, brothers John, Karl, George an infant brother Carl and sisters, Emma Coffin and Katheryn Castaneda

Dean Martin Glandt, 73, of Cheyenne died Thursday (May 17, 2007) at Davis Hospice Center. He was born Dec. 8, 1933, in Lusk and had lived here since 1970 with prior residence in Lusk.
Mr. Glandt was a surveyor and designer for the Wyoming Highway Department.
He was a member of the Wyoming Employees Association, an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and sponsor of Lutheran Hour. He enjoyed gardening, and hunting, fishing, and camping.
Dean is survived by his wife, FMyrtle “Davenne” Glandt of Cheyenne, whom he married on Sept. 18, 1955, in Lusk; a son, Matthew Glandt of Mississippi; two daughters, Perriann Stanley of Riverton and Delphine Becker of Denver; a brother, Ronald Glandt of Golden, Colo.; a sister, Jeanette Baltes of Riverton; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Meta Glandt.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Reinert III, officiating. Interment to follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Casketbearers will be Benjamin Stanley, Nicholas Stanley, Alex Stanley, DeWayne Spillers, Myles Becker, and Rodney Baltes. Honorary casketbearers will be Earl Launer, Matthew Dean Glandt, Bob Shupe, and Bill Prigge. Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes. ULYSSES - Marletta Kay Klein, 69, died Oct. 18, 2007, at Bob Wilson Memorial Grant County Hospital, Ulysses.
She was born Oct. 4, 1938, in Hugoton, the daughter of Robert A. and Jessie May Joy Godschalk. A resident of Ulysses, she was a loan officer at the ASCS Office, Ulysses.
She belonged to Shelton Memorial Christian Church, and attended Grant County Senior Citizens Center, both of Ulysses.
On March 18, 1957, she married FDonald E. KLEIN. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Ricky D., Elkhart, and Randy L., Ulysses; a daughter, Rae Jean Amy, Dodge City; a brother, Robert D. Godschalk, Sargent, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Robin Ann Klein.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shelton Memorial Christian Church, Ulysses, with Pastor Bill Harrold presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Grant County Funeral Home, Ulysses. Burial will be in the Hugoton Cemetery. Mary L. Just, 81, died July 30, 2007, at Salem Nursing Home, Hillsboro. Born March 23, 1926, at Marion, she was the daughter of Peter and Mary (Goertz) Goentzel.

On Aug. 10, 1955, she married Harold Just at Hillsboro.

She was a homemaker and member of Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.

Survivors include her husband, Harold of Hillsboro; two sons, Dennis and Sara Just of Moundridge and Leroy and Jill Just of Hillsboro; two daughters, Shirley Just of Denver, Colo., and Dorothy Deckert of Wichita; two brothers, Vernon Goentzel of Marion and Ben Goentzel of Hillsboro; a sister, Ruth Goentzel of Hillsboro; and six grandchildren.

Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. NORTH NEWTON - Arthur D. "Art" Goering, 80, died Sept. 5, 2007, at his home, Newton.
He was born June 28, 1927, in Moundridge, the son of John B. and Jessie Schrag Goering. He graduated from Canton High School and attended McPherson College. He graduated from Bethel College and later earned a master's degree from Wichita State University and specialist in education degree from Emporia State University. A resident of Newton, he was a teacher.
He belonged to Faith Mennonite Church, Newton, taught Sunday school and served on many committees and boards. He was a U.S. Army veteran. On Oct. 6, 1956, he married FRosella GOOSSEN. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Randall, Newton, and Steven, Evanston, Ill.; a daughter, Jan Baty, Missoula, Mont.; five brothers, Larry, Ayden, N.C., Harry, Menifee, Calif., James, Dayton, Va., Leonard, Newton, and John, Gresham, Ore.; two sisters, Martha Sungren, North Newton, and Joan Epp, Goessel; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Walter, Alvin, Bill, Daniel, Herbert and Ralph; and two sisters, Elva Goering and Frieda Regier.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith Mennonite Church, Newton, with Pastor Gordon Smith presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. A private family burial will take place in rural Moundridge.

Goertzen, Leslie Delbert, born to Isaac Goertzen and Marjorie L. Chrisman in Hutchinson, KS, January 10, 1924. He passed away Oct. 7, 2007. He attended Hutchinson schools. Began working at Boeing in Wichita during WWII and worked there 38 years. He married FRoberta BUCK in 1964. She died Oct. 17, 1985. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Darlow I. Goertzen and sister Bonnie L. Hoskins. He was a resident of Wichita for 63 years. He was a champion at horse shoes with his buddy, brother Calvin, and an excellent bowler for many years and loved to fish. He delivered Meals On Wheels for many years. Leslie was a member of West Douglas Church of Christ and the Cow Creek Chapter of Kansas Oldtime Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers and Boeing Retired Employees. He leaves a sister (Roberta) Arlene Barb and a brother Calvin W. Goertzen of Hutchinson, 13 nieces and 9 nephews; children, daughter and husband Yvonne and Charlie Cookson, sons and wives Wayne and Phyllis Buck and Howard and Linda Buck, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Norbert Frank Goetz, 83, died Oct. 24, 2007, at his home, Hutchinson.
He was born Nov. 12, 1923, in Willowdale, the son of August W. and Catherine Greiving Goetz. A resident of Hutchinson most of his life, he was a retired machinist for Cessna.
He belonged to St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Hutchinson, Knights of Columbus of Willowdale, Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Moose. He was a Motor Machinist's Mate Third Class in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.
On Aug. 2, 1947, he married FElsie NEAL in Kingman. They divorced Nov. 4, 1965. On June 21, 1969, he married FHelen E. GUM in Kingman. She died July 8, 2007.
Survivors include: a son, Allen, Kingman; two daughters, Katherine Yochum, Julesburg, Colo., and Linda Johnson, Lewellen, Neb.; a sister, Bertha Fisher, Pratt; two half brothers, Cletus, Wichita, and Sylvester, Willowdale; four half sisters, Agnes Heifner, Derby, Mildred Dare, Salina, Dorothy Neal, Kingman, and Lorraine Cline, Biggs, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elenora Miller.

WICHITA - Melvin Gottschalk, 73, died March 31, 2007, at his home, Wichita.

He was born July 20, 1933, in Liebenthal, the son of Wendelin and Monica Depperschmidt Gottschalk. A resident of Wichita, he was a roofer.

On Nov. 22, 1952, he married FShirley MALEK in McPherson. She survives.

Other survivors include: three daughters, including, Nancy Homewood, Sedgwick, and Linda Lanham, Newton; a son, Danny Gottschalk-Lassley, Newton; three brothers; three sisters; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Nathan J. Gottschalk, 21, Schoenchen, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident southwest of Hays.

He was born Jan. 12, 1986, in Hays to Wayne J. and Jackie (Randa) Gottschalk. He was a graduate of Hays High School, and attended Cloud Community College and Fort Hays State University.

He was employed at Murfin Drilling.

Survivors include his parents, of the home; a sister, Jewel N. Gottschalk, of the home; his grandparents, John W. and Esther Gottschalk, Schoenchen, and Julieta Randa, Hays.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Eric D. Gottschalk.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Church, Schoenchen; burial in St. Anthony Cemetery, Schoenchen. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, both at Brock’s North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays. NORTH NEWTON - Leona C. Schrag, 86, died June 1, 2007, at Kidron Bethel Health Care, North Newton. She was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Pretty Prairie, the daughter of Edward W. and Carry Stucky Graber. She was a proofreader for the Pretty Prairie Times and was a church and hospital secretary.

She belonged to Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton.

On Aug. 18, 1940, she married FHoward J. SCHRAG in Pretty Prairie. He survives.

SALINA - Joan F. Schmidt, 70, Salina, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007. Mrs. Schmidt was born May 4, 1937, at Victoria to Joseph and Florina Graf. She was a cook for many years at sacred Heart Junior/Senior High School and also worked in the shoe department at Wal-Mart, both in Salina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, in 2006; a daughter, Theressa, in 1959; and two grandsons, Shane and Samuel.

Survivors include three sons and their souses, Michael and Mary of Ellsworth, David and Laura of Assaria, and Mark and Sandra of Saline; two daughters and their husbands, Jolene and Mel Watson of Dodge City and Karen and David Sharp of Salina; a sister and her husband, Lillian and John Becker of Russell; a nephew, Wayne Becker of Cleveland; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A Mass of Christian burial was Saturday at the St. Mary, Queen of the University, Catholic Church, Salina, Father Kerry Ninemire officiating. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorial services for Carole Collier, 54, of Hereford will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Meyer of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Collier died Friday at her residence. She was born November 5, 1950, in La Junta, Colorado, to Herbert Grasmick and Dorothy Manweiler Grasmick. She moved to Hereford in 1967 from Sugar City, Colorado. She graduated from Hereford high School in 1968 and married FJerry COLLIER on April 5, 1970, in Hereford. She had been employed by Khuri Surgical for five years and then by Hereford Regional Medical Center for two years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband; tow sons Todd Collier of Lubbock and Jason Collier of Friona; her mother, Dorothy Grasmick of Hereford; a brother, Gary Grasmick of Delta, Colorado and three grandchildren.

MAYETTA -- James A. Grau, 61, Mayetta, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007.
Mr. Grau was born March 1, 1946, in Beloit to Gene Morris and Mary Kathryn. He owned and operated Mayetta Oil. He also operated Jim Grau Construction.
He received an Associate of Arts degree from Fort Hays State College. He received a business degree from Kansas State University. He was a life member of VFW Post No. 1367, Holton. He served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War.
He married FKarla WINTERS on June 15, 1980, in Las Vegas.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Shane of Topeka; a daughter, Shelby Grau and husband,Brett James of Mayetta; four brothers, John of Soldier, Greg of Kansas City, Mo., Pat of Atlanta and Art of Mesa, Ariz.; and a stepbrother, Harold Herring of Grove, Okla.

Annie Green, 94, of Scottsbluff, died Monday, May 28, 2007 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 1, at the Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff.

Annie was born May 31, 1912 in Milwaukee, Wis. to Nicholas and Catherine E. (Spahn) Green. At an early age she moved with her family to the Lake Alice Community where she received her education. She had lived in the area all of her life.
She was a lifetime member of the Salem Congregational Church and sang in the church choir. Annie was a very kind and caring person and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her nieces, Florine Starkell of Scottsbluff and Arlene Harimon of Minatare; nephews, Marvin Green of Gering and Gary Green of Torrington, Wyo.; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Anna Groskopf Ashmore, 86 of Gering, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Regional West Medical Center with her family by her side.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 23, at the Rejoice Lutheran Church with Reverend Helmut Yurk officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff.
Visitation will be Wednesday Aug. 22, from 1to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Panhandle Humane Society. Jolliffe Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Anna was born June 15, 1921, near Bayard to Frank and Eva (Knaub) Marsh. She Married FVictor GROSKOPF Jan. 14, 1945, in Gering.
When Anna lost her husband Victor in 1971 she obtained her CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) from Nebraska Western College in May 1974. She always wanted to be a nurse and loved science. Anna worked at Heritage and Beverly Enterprises, and trained many new nursing students. Later she privately sat for various families' parents. She loved her job and the people she cared for. She was able to speak German and cared for many German immigrants. Anna was always able get some of the patients to cooperate with her gentle and kind ways. She retired in 1997.
She loved her children and enjoyed spending time with and cooking for them. Anna also loved flowers, especially the roses grown by her daughter, even though her daughter did not inherit her green thumb. Her son Steve did acquire the green thumb as he does farm in Colorado. The children also teased their mother about whom she liked best, Steve or Vickie. Vickie believed that her mother liked her best. However, Steve says "that's not true," but he didn't get to write the obituary. So he guesses it was Vickie after all.
She loved dogs; especially her dog Tisha and her daughter's dog Molly Ann. Ann could never understand how or why anyone could mistreat any animal, as they needed love, too.
Another love of Anna was music. She could play the piano and the accordion by listening to a song and recreating it. Her favorite color was blue sapphire.
Survivors include her daughter, Vickie and husband Thomas Groskopf-Jones of Gering, son Steven and wife Cynthia Groskopf of Olathe, Colo. and sisters, Molly Specht of Hemingford and Lydia Specht of Greeley, Colo.
Her parents, husband and two brothers preceded her in death.

Gregory E. Groskopf, 44, of Scottsbluff, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at his home.
A Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, at Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place at Jolliffe Funeral Home Crematory.

Greg was born May 15, 1963, in Scottsbluff to William and Imogene (Hornbacher) Groskopf. He received his education in the Mitchell Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1982. Greg worked numerous jobs before joining the custodian crew at the Scottsbluff Public Schools, where he has enjoyed his career surrounded by friends and co-workers. He was always willing to stop and visit with anyone, either while on walks, at work, or just anyone he might meet in passing, Greg was a very personable individual.
He enjoyed watching Husker football, and was a proud member of the Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff.
Greg is survived by his parents Bill and Imogene Groskopf of Scottsbluff; brother, Kurt Groskopf and his wife Rashelle of North Platte; niece, Megan Groskopf of North Platte; nephews, Geoff Groskopf and his wife Cara of Gering, Shane Groskopf of Lincoln, and Justin Groskopf of North Platte; sister-in-law, Shirley Groskopf of Bayard; good friend Jim Watson of Torrington, Wyo.; and numerous aunts and uncles.
His brother Gary, grandparents Jake and Edna Groskopf and Wilbert and Agatha Hornbacher preceded Greg in death.

LAUREL - Anna Mary (Gross) Hergett died Monday, July 10, 2007, at St. Vincent Hospital, Billings. Anna was born in Edgar on March 5, 1915, to George Gross Sr. and Sara (Herman) Gross. She was the youngest child in a family of six children. Anna married Richard Hergett on March 3, 1935, in Park City.
Anna was a homemaker and her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very important to her. She was an excellent cook and the family enjoyed her fried chicken, apple strudel and apple pies. She was a very organized person and everything was in its place. She thoroughly enjoyed taking pictures and placing them in her many photo albums. Some of her favorite times were when she and Richard went fishing and camping and she caught "The Biggest Fish!" Anna was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Anna is survived by her husband, Richard, of 72 years; her four children, Betty (Henry) Lich, Laurel, Joanne (Richard) Nauman, Park City, Janice (Robert) Armstrong, Libby, and Gerald (Sharon) Hergett, Laurel. She is survived by 11 grandchildren, LaRay Mears, Alan (Dana) Lich, Wanda (Jason) Richardson, Rich (Shelly) Nauman, Russ (Robbin) Nauman, Rod (Valerie) Nauman, Alison (Terry) Jacobs, Bill (Robin) Armstrong Jr., Guy (Jan) Armstrong, Gregg Hergett and Garry (Lisa) Hergett. Anna is also survived by 29 great-grandchildren, Stephanie (Loren) Schrag, Amanda Mears, Randi and Sydney Lich, Lindsay, Courtney, Ashley and Jeffrey Richardson, Cal and Megan Nauman, Whitney and Chad Nauman, Alyssa, Shane and Daniel Nauman, Mitchell, Rebecca, Marshall and Benjamin Jacobs, Danielle, Michael and Taylor Armstrong, Amybeth, Courtney, Brant, and Chase Armstrong; Jarred, Brandon and Carly Hergett.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Sara, Annie and Katherine; and brothers, Mike and George Jr.
Rest in peace, our loved one, we love you and will miss you.
Funeral services for Anna Mary (Gross) Hergett, 92, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 417 W. Ninth St., Laurel. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, PO Box 185, Laurel, MT 59044.
Interment will be in the Laurel Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her eight grandsons, Alan Lich, Richard Nauman, Jr., Russell Nauman, Rodney Nauman, Robert Armstrong, Jr., Guy Armstrong, Greggory Hergett, Garry Hergett and honorary casket bearers will be Loren Schrag and Jason Richardson. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel was in charge of arrangements.

Herman Gross, 84, of Gering, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at Heritage Estates.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at West Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Paul Hebbert officiating. Family and friends are welcome to attend this service.
Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel. The casket will be closed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Gering Zion Church or to Prairie Haven Hospice. Tributes of sympathy may be left at Fwww.geringchapel.com.
Herman was born May 25, 1923, at Gering to August and Katherine (Knaub) Gross. He at-tended Lincoln Elementary and Gering High School with the class of 1942. He married FBetty KAUFMAN in 1947. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2007.
Herman farmed in Gering, Melbeta and the McGrew area. He was a 4-H leader, and served on the Melbeta School board. He retired from farming in 1992. He then was employed at the Monument Shadows Golf course for 10 years. He was a member of the Gering Zion Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; sons, Allen Gross and wife Patricia of Bayard and Glen Gross and wife Jeananne of Highland, Kan.; he was especially proud of his grandchildren, Gregory Gross and wife Jill and Kevin Gross all of Omaha and Julianne Gross of Highland, Kan.; sister and brother-in-law, Bette and Gordon Seiber of San Antonio, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Mary Gross and William and Irene Gross all of Gering and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, a sister and five brothers preceded him in death.

Paul F. Gross, 92, who settled in Delger township in 1904 died at the home of his son, John Gross of rural McClusky October 9.
Funeral services were held at the Mennonite Church 6 miles northwest of Chaseley October 14 with the Rev. Melvin Carlson of Denhoff officiating. Burial was made at the Gross Cemetery near Chaseley. Neuenschwander Bros. Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were grandsons, Aldean, Dallas and Elmer Gross, Larry Pullman, Ferdinand Jr. and Sidney Schmidt.
Paul Gross was born July 1, 1864 in South Russia. His parents died when he was young and he made his home with his sister Sarah Knel. In 1874 they left Russia and came to this country. They first settled in Lincoln, Neb. and later moved with the colony to Bon Homme colony 22 miles west of Yankton. He made his home with his uncle John Stahl and later with his brother Andrew. In his youth he had the distinction of being the first pony express mail carrier from the city of Freemont, S. Dak.
On January 6, 1889 he married FMaria KLEINSASSER. She died in 1932. A son Jacob and three daughters, Mrs. David J. (Katie) Kleinsasser, Mrs. George J. C. (Mary) and Mrs. Mike J. (Anna) Gross also preceded him in death.
He is survived by the following children: Paul, Portland, Ore., Joseph and Peter of Chaseley; John of McClusky; Mrs. George J. C. (Sarah) Gross of Huron, S. Dak.; Mrs. Ferd J. (Susana) Schmidt of Denhoff; Mrs. Joe D. (Elizabeth) Gross of Chaseley; Mrs. Mike J. (Rebecca) Gross of Huron, S. Dak.; and Mrs. Clarence (Adina) Pullman of Freeman, S. Dak. He also leaves 43 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
FKathryn WAHL, who he married on March 26, 1935, also preceded him in death in 1948 in Winnepeg, Canada.

Lucille Caroline Kembel, 68 lifelong Morgan County resident died Wednesday, September 5, 2007 in a farming accident near Brush. On January 16, 1939
Lucille entered this life as abruptly as she departed it when she was born in the back seat of her parent's, Jess and Selma (Burkhart) Groves car in Hudson, Colorado. She simply would not wait to reach the hospital in Denver.
She graduated from Ft. Morgan High School in 1957. On June 9, 1957 she was married to FKenneth KEMBEL at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Morgan. They made their home and raised 5 children Northeast of Ft. Morgan. Along with a lifetime of farming, she also worked at various local businesses and
organizations such a Coast to Coast, M & H Auto, BOCES, Morgan County and Colorado Greenhouse. After raising her children Lucille continued her education by earning two associate degrees from Morgan Community College and a B.S. in Business Administration from Regis University in 1989. In 2004 she
was the recipient of MCC's All-Star Alumni Award for Business. At the time of her death, she was secretary for the Deuel & Snyder Ditch Board, a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Morgan and the Colorado Good Shepherd Home. Her joys were her family, quilting, raising cattle and driving a truck at harvest time. She was also an avid supporter of her husband, children and grandchildren's racing hobbies and school activities. Lucille is survived by three sons, Brian and Brad Kembel both of Ft. Morgan, and Jeff Kembel of New Plymouth, Idaho, one daughter, Penny Mount of Ft. Morgan, two brothers, Jess Groves Jr. of Orchard and Larry Groves of Ft. Morgan, 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, two sons, Andy and Timothy, one grandson and her parents. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 10, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Memorial Gifts may be made to the Colorado
Good Shepherd Home in care of the Trinity Lutheran Church. The Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
