Ralph V. Stenzel, Ness City, will celebrate his 81st birthday Jan. 25. He was born in 1922 to Victor and Olinda Reinhardt Stenzel at Russell. In 1936 he moved with his parents to Bazine, where he farmed with his father. On Dec. 29, 1946, he married Irene M. MUSBACH at United Methodist Church in Ness City. He is a retired farmer and a member of the American Legion, Ness City, and the VFW, Ransom. He served with the 503rd HM Tank Co., in the European Theater during World War II at Bath, England; Normandy, Omaha Beach, St. Lo, France; Belgium, Holland, Battle of the Bulge and Berlin. He and his wife moved from the farm to Ness City in 1966. His children are Loren and Lynette Stenzel, Ness City, and the late Marvin Stenzel. He has two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In 1882 he married Anna Biesterfeld. Four girls and three boys, Marie, George, Lizzie, Henry, Herman, Amelia and Lena were born to this union. The oldest, Mary, married Paul Krause. The rest of the children ranging in age from 4 to 20 years lived with their father until his death. The family came to America in 1890 and lived in Russell for many years. Mrs. Stoppel died in August 1906. He will be greatly missed by his family, his brother Jacob and his friends. He was buried in the German cemetery in Russell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her baby son, David Michael Byars (Aug. 4, 1944 - Dec. 19, 1944); her husbands, Conrad Clinton BYARS, JR., "C.C." (Dec. 3, 1916 - Nov. 2, 1959) and James Harold HAMILTON, "Hap" (Aug. 21, 1915 - Oct. 10, 1995); her great-grandson Cody Anderson Dowler (Aug. 2, 1994 - Jan. 30, 2000); and her siblings, George Streck, Emily Roach, Clara Cuculich, Mary Veatch, Saschia Streck and Jacob Streck. Her parents were Germans who were born in Linovesky, Russia. Her oldest brother and sister, George and Emily, were also born in Linovesky, Russia. To the union above referrred to six children were born as follows: Jacob, who lives in the Milberger country, John Peter, Henry and August, all of whom live near Russell, Mrs. Jacob (Amerlia) Becker of Milberger and Mrs. Emanuel (Pauline) Morgenstern of Oakley, Kansas. Some time after the death his first wife, he was married Mrs. Elizabeth FOSE who survives him. They had one child, Benjamin F. He leaves three brothers, George Jacob, who lives in Russia, Henry who lives in Barton County, and Jacob, who lives in Russell. He was born Oct. 30, 1909, in a small village in Elenbuk, Russia, on the border of Germany and Russia. At the young age of 2-1/2, Victor lost his mother after giving birth to his younger brother. Sadly, this brother died three months later. Vic's father remarried and to this union they were blessed with more children. Altogether, Victor had 18 siblings (whole, half and step). Vic married Elizabeth on Nov. 27, 1932. Together, they had one son and two daughters. They were married 65 years before she passed away. His parents, daughter Nancy, son Marvin, brother, Henry, and a grandson, Scott Stricker, preceded Victor in death. Survivors include his daughter, Nadine (John) Stark of Billings; daughter-in-law, Martha Stricker; brother, Robert Stricker; sisters, Rosie Durr, Lillian Backer, Lydia Jackson, Martha Leikam and Alvina Bennett; grandchildren, John, Steve, Victor, Sandy, Leroy, Mark and Pam; and 16 great-grandchildren. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Lewis and Mary Lou Hiebert, Betty and Eugene Just, Helen and Wilbur Leppke, Roger and Mary Alice Hiebert, and Joyce and Robert Schmidt; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Paul and Elda Suderman will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on May 26 at Ebenfeld Church in rural Hillsboro. There will be a brief program at 3 p.m. Paul Suderman and Elda ENSZ met in Germany where they were in MCC work and married April 5, 1952, in Reedley, Calif. Paul is a farmer, and Elda, a retired social worker, is a homemaker.  The event will be hosted by their children, Greg and Beth Suderman,  Dena and Ron Braun,  Barry and Elaine Suderman and Ronda and Nick King. The Sudermans have eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

She was born March 4, 1918, to John and Lydia Sutter in Friedenfelt, Russia. She married Karl SIGMUND in 1937. They had three children: John, Fred and Karoline. After receiving word of her husband's death in World War II, Erna eventually came to the United States in 1951 with her children, her mother and her two sisters and their families. She settled in Bismarck, N.D., where she met Edward WIESTE. They married July 2, 1952, and had three children: Edward, Milton and David. Her husband preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; son, Fred; sister, Lena; sister, Katja; and brother, Gideon. She is survived by her sister, Martha Sigmund of Fargo, N.D.; a daughter, Karoline Suhr of Indianapolis; four sons, John Sigmund of Frankfurt, Germany, Ed Wiest of Billings, Mick Wiest of Douglas, Wyo., and David Wiest of Raleigh, N.C. God blessed her with 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

C. was united in marriage to Carolyn Joyce BURKE. J. C. and Carolyn shared grief for the first time with the loss of an infant son, Jimmie Dean. However, God blessed them with two more sons, Kevin Kay on Jan. 27,1965, and Kelly Lee on Feb. 2, 1968. J. C. already has one son, Terry Lynn, born on July 23, 1960, during a previous marriage. He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 38 years, Carolyn; sons, Kevin and Christina of Norman, Kelly and Lorinda , Terry and Marlania; also his parents Dave and Rosie Swenn of Shattuck, brother, Danny and wife, Anna Swenn; grandchildren, Colton Cody, Courtney, Colin, Ashtyn, Trenton,Tiffany Kimberly and Emily Rose.
