Fifty years ago in August of 1949 when our eldest son was five months old, Grandmother Richert passed away. With her parents, Johann and Justine Enz, two sisters and three of her brothers, she had come to America from West Prussia, arriving in Newton on May 23, 1881. Another brother joined the family after he completed a tour of duty in the Prussian army.

She is survived by three children, Andrew Bohage of Denver, CO, Karl (Nancy) Schwaab of Cedar Falls, IA, and Kathleen Kober of Wauwatosa, WI; three granddaughters, Kristina and Sarah Kober, and Wanda Schwaab, two grandsons, Gregory (Tracy) Schwaab, and Douglas Schwaab; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Dorothy Hughes.Burial of her cremains will follow in the Union Cemetery.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a paratrooper in England and France with the Army 82nd Airborne Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart. On June 3, 1941, he married Thelma G. The seventh son and thirteenth and youngest child of Gottfried Riffel and Maria Elizabeth Brunner. His mother, Maria Elizabeth Brunner, died in 1908 when he was 23 years old. In 1910, he was 25 years old and listed in the household with his father, two siblings, Andrew and Julia, and his 16-year-old niece, Rosy Moss. In 1920, Christ was 34 years old and listed as the head of household consisting of his nephew and two nieces, Harry Moss, Lena (Glossen) Moss, and Daisy Moss. His father, Godfrey Riffel, is listed next door. Then, in 1920, Harry Moss is listed as the head of household consisting of his mother, Elizabeth (Bertha) Moss; half sister, Lena (Glossen) Moss; sister, Daisy Moss; grandfather, Gotf. Riffel; and uncle, Christ Riffel, who was then aged 39. Christ's father, Gottfried Riffel died in 1926. In 1930, Harry Moss is again listed as the head of household consisting of his half sister, Lena Glossen, and uncle, Christ Riffel. According to Perry Riffel, grandson of Andrew C. Riffel, "Uncle Chris" lived on the Riffel Homestead west of Lincolnville with his disabled sister, Aunt Julia. Note: Chris Riffel never married. He is buried in the Lincolnville Cemetery.

They will also stop by Springfield, Mo., to visit Raymond, Merlin and Jean Abbott and then will travel to Michigan to visit their son and family. Don and Carolyn Riffel came Monday for the day. Darrell Riffel of Woodward visited over the weekend. Pat Reinhardt came from Franktown, Colo., on Friday, stopping for the night in Guymon to visit nieces and nephews. Janet Becker Oberkramer rode with Pat from Sedalia, Colo. to visit with her family.

Ira was preceded in death by his parents, his twin sister, Irene, a sister, Leah, and three brothers, Jesse, Dan and Walter. The Riffels were Kutschurganers who first went to Culelia, Romania in search of more land for the Riffel sons. Part of one generation was born in Culelia, and then Casimir Riffel and his wife (Franziska Fetsch), two married sons and three daughters emigrated to Canada in 1906. Fr. John was the son of Anton Riffel and Catherine Drescher, born iin 1911 on the family's Prelate, SK area homestead. John Riffel married Regina Deis of Vibank, SK, in 1940, and together they had ten children. His wife, Regina, died in 1975. He is survived by nine of his children, 25 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Fr. John had ten siblings.

Mr. Pope ........with his family to American .....and coming to the state of ..... they first lived on the farm in Barton County. Mr. Pope died in 190? In 1903, the deceased was united in marriage to David WEIMER. To this union one son, Ben, was born. In 1905, the family moved to Russell county, and lived on the farm til 1913 when they moved to Russell. Here Mrs. Weimer passed away, Saturday, January 14th. Those mourning her departure are her husband, David Weimer; five sons, Geo. Pope of Belfair, WA; David, John and Henry of Russell, KS; and Ben of Denver, CO; one daughter, Sophie Pope of Barton county; three stepsons, David Weimer of Culbertson, NE; Georg Weimer of Ira, IA; Jacob Weimer, Valeria, IA; 30 grandchildren, also a host of relatives and friends. Elizabeth was born on May 7th, 1908 in Pilsen, Ks to Adolph and Christina Stika Rudolph. She was the third of ten children including: Agnes Smolik, Petrona Krotz, Cecilia Svitak, Pete Rudolph, Ida Svitak, Matt Rudolph and Jane Makovec also two little sisters who died in early childhood. On April 18, 1931, she married Ezra PROPP (son of Jacob and Amelia Riffel Propp) of the Ramona, KS community and settled on a farm near Lost Springs, KS. Her husband Ezra, who for many years was the produce manager at Larchers Grocery, preceded her in death in 1986 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Kathrynell (Kate) McDonald and her husband Jack of San Antonio, TX and son, Gene Propp and his wife Patty of Prairie Village, KS. Grandchildren surviving are Col Mike McDonald , Great Falls, MT; Dr. Tom McDonald, College Station, TX; John McDonald, Dallas, TX; Tim Propp, Houston, TX; Dr. Dan Propp, Missoula Mt and Kathy Propp Wrubel, Costa Mesa, CA. At the age of one, Maude and her family moved to Greeley, Colo. Later, when her father died at age 47, the family moved to Scottsbluff. Maude met and married Frank John COLLOPY on Dec. 24, 1925. She worked as a telephone operator for her brothers, Herb and John Rutz. Maude and her sister Lillie owned and operated the Lincoln Heights Grocery for 16 years. Her husband died December 1978. She is survived by her sister, Pauline "Polly" Farris, of Reno, Nev.; brother, John, and his wife, Velma Rutz, of Scottsbluff; son, Bill Collopy, and his wife Kay, of Scottsbluff; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son Frank "Junior"; sisters, Mary, Lillie and Sarah; and brothers, Dave, Jack, Jim and Herb.
