She was born July 2, 1918, daughter of Edward Ochs and Ida Popp Ochs, Barton County, Hoisington, Kansas. She married Henry LITZENBERGER on June 16, 1937 at Garden City, Kansas. Henry passed away Feb 3, 1988. To this marriage, 3 children were born, all whom survive. Daughters, Alvera Evelyn Strickland, and Carol Jane Whitehurst, and one son, Verle Eugene Litzenberger. Alvera was the oldest child of the 17 children born to Edward and Ida Ochs. Her parents proceeded her in death along with 3 brothers, Paul, Elmer, Melvin and a sister, Ruth, plus 2 unnamed triplets who died at birth. Ruth was the third child in the birth of the triplets. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Obituary (Note: There is an error on the obituary. She was married to Henrick U. BRACK, not Andreas U. Brack) She was the second daughter of Henry and Lusanna Ochs. She grew up in Schoenthal. In 1865 she was united to Mr. Andrea (sic) BRACK. This union was blessed with eleven children, three dying in infancy, and eight now surviving her. In 1876 the Brack family came to Barton County, Kansas. Mr. Brack died in 1920. The deceased leaves to mourn her death two sisters and one brother, six sons, Henry, Philip, John, Pete, George, and Jacob and two daughters, Mrs. Phil Ochs and Mrs. J. J. Shaffer.

In the first year in Milltown a son died, and in 1888, during the terrible cold winter that swept across the whole country, two of her sons, Johann, age 17, and Ludwig, age 13, were frozen to death.

Helen was born July 18, 1920, to Henry and Mollie (Thiel) Ostwalt, the second of 10 children. Helen met Henry FOOS, JR.. at a dance and in November 1940, they were married. They had three children: Carolyn, Nancy and Henrietta. They farmed in Silesia, Laurel and Park City until Henry passed away in October 1958. In August 1963, Helen married Kenneth Southworth. Kenny passed away in September 1994. She leaves behind her two loving daughters, Carolyn J. (Nick) Ritz and Nancy Goddard; six grandchildren, Teresa (Wes) Peltzer, Valarie (Bill) Giesick, Corday (Syd) Goddard, Anissa (David) Alan, Michael Ray (Marie) Underwood, Michelle (Jonathan) Smith; 10 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Harold (Almeda), John (Dorrothy), Conrad (Miriam) and Eugene (Diane); and four sisters, Martha (Harold) Iverson, Esther Fox, Betty (Melvin) Aman, and Judy (Clint) Frank; and many nieces and nephews.
