Ruben Schlager  - April 25, 1921 - April 20, 2010   -  Ruben Schlager passed away 20 April  2010 in The Dalles, Ore.  He was five days short of his 89th birthday.  Ruben was born the eighth of what would be 17 children to Jakob and Elisabetha (Deines) Schlager on the farm north of Mitchell, Neb.  On July 22,1944, Ruben married DONZELLA G. WILSON.   Ruben is survived by his wife; six children, Sue and her husband Rick Hahn, Lee Ann and her husband Richard Livingston, James and his wife Teresa DeBarartolo, Beth and her husband Greg Kaser, Russell and his wife Angie, David and his wife Cindy; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Scott Smetzer, Jodi and her husband Jason Giuseponi, Brad and Tait Pricer, Jason and his wife Amy, Melissa, Levi Kaser, Molly and her husband Allen Beamis, Emma, Gracie Mae; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan, Samuel, Elijah Ruben and Luke Smetzer, Arin Guillory, and Morgan and Nicolas Guiseponi; seven siblings, Rose Schwartz, Robert and his wife Doloris, Clara and her husband Bill Costopoulos, Wilma and her husband Chuck Ward, Harry, Bill and his wife Marlene, Lawrence and his wife Jeanette;and 50 nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his parents; seven aunts and uncles who immigrated to this country; six aunts and an unknown number of cousins who were killed during Stalin’s reign; six brothers and three sisters; and six nieces and nephews.
