ALLIANCE - Paul Alexander "Duke" Snyder, 68, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, S.D.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, at St. John's United Lutheran Church with Pastor Bill Buschbom officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Memorials may be sent in care of the family at 1228 Duncan Avenue, Alliance, NE 69301. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Paul was born Nov. 23, 1938 in Northport, Neb., the sixth child to Carl and Elizabeth (Ehrhardt) Snyder. He was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Sidney and attended school in Sidney and Hemingford.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965. He worked for local farmers, Meter Smith Well Drilling and then in1968 and until currently owned and operated Snyder's Vacuum Sales and Service.
Paul married Geraldine L. (Jeri) TAYLOR Aug. 19, 1965. To this union three children were born, Jimmy, Paula and Troy.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the Eagles Aerie #136. He enjoyed Stockcar Racing, Husker football, fishing, and farming and ranching.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Jeri); children, Jimmy Snyder and Paula Snyder, and grandson, Anthony Snyder all of Alliance; his brother, Carl (Ilene) Snyder, Jr. of Dugan, Calif.; sisters, Eva Burney of Cutbank, Mont., and Linda Voss of Hale Center, Texas; sister-in-law, Barbara Snyder of Alliance and numerous nieces and nephews.
His son Troy, his parents, two sisters, a brother and two brothers-in-law preceded him in death.

Dorothy Marie Schutz was born Sept. 28, 1924, in Dickinson, N.D. to Panteley and Anna (Kostelecky) Salonick. She grew up and attended school in South Heart. As a young woman, she helped out on the family farm.
Dorothy moved to Billings, Mont. where she met and married John SCHUTZ on Nov. 16, 1946. They were married for 55 years before John's death in 2001. They made Billings their home where they raised their family. Dorothy worked for Pierce Packing and numerous years at the Esquire Café. She loved dancing to her favorite polka music.
After her marriage, she raised four wonderful children; three sons and one daughter. They were the light of her life. Dorothy will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and dedication to her family.
Dorothy Marie Schutz passed away peacefully with her family at her side, on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at the Billings Clinic.
She is survived by her children, Dan (Sharon) Schutz, Bob (Kim) Schutz, Kathleen (Tom) Carrillo and Ken (Patty) Schutz; three grandchildren, Shelly (Jason) Pierce, Kara Milliron and Amanda Carrillo; and three great-grandchildren, Tristin and Skylar Pierce and Chase Milliron. She is also survived by her brother Tony Salonick of Dickinson, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; four sisters, Emma Kadrmas, Rose Roller, Tillie Schutz, and Mildred Splichal.
We would like to thank all the staff at Aspen Meadows, the staff on the 4th floor at Billings Clinic, and Drs. Szabo and Argani for their excellent care and personal attention to our mother.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mom, we all love and miss you very much and you will always be in our hearts.

LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Barbara A. Moos died May 23, 2007.

She was born Aug. 15, 1945, in Stafford, the daughter of George and Naomi Bowman Sowles. A former resident of Stafford and Hays, moving to Colorado in 2004, she was a human resources administrative assistant.

On Sept. 17, 1963, she married Robert W. MOOS in Great Bend. He survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, including Thomas, Great Bend; two daughters, including Tracey McDonald, Hays; a brother; a sister, Sandra Spires, Garden City; and eight grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Great Bend Cemetery North, Great Bend. A luncheon will be held at the First United Methodist Church following services. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association, both in care of the funeral home.

MARION - Pauline G. Schimpf, 82, died Oct. 25, 2007, at St. Luke Hospital.
She was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Pilsen, the daughter of Thomas W. and Mary F. Neuwirth Spachek. A lifelong resident of Marion County, she was a retired registered nurse.
She belonged to Holy Family Parish, St. Marks Church.
On Jan. 8, 1946, she married William SCHIMPF in Pilsen. He died Feb. 13, 1991.
Survivors include: a son, William J., Marion; two daughters, Cheryl Witt, Mount Vernon, Ky., and Mary Jones, Hiawatha; two brothers, John Spachek, Wichita, and Andrew Spachek, San Antonio; a sister, Genevieve Steiner, Wichita; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy Family Parish, St. Marks Church, Marion, with Father Hien Nguyen presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.

Henry Spade, Jr. - Age 90 - Sept. 7, 1916 - May 26, 2007 - Residence: Loveland
Tribute: Henry Spade Jr. was born in Fort Morgan to Henry Spade Sr. and Elizabeth Kreiger Spade in Fort Morgan. He grew up in Fort Morgan, where he also attended schools. He farmed in the Fort Morgan area before moving to Loveland 50 years ago. He then farmed in the Loveland area until he retired in 1968. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Loveland, he loved fishing, bowling, the dog track, and he enjoyed his friends who would pick him up to go for coffee time. He also received the High Ten for his sugar beets for 13 years.
Mr. Spade died May 26 at Centennial Health Care Center in Greeley.
Preceded in death by: His parents; a son, Harvey Spade; eight brothers; and one sister.
Survivors: His daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Spade of Loveland; a brother, Joe Spade, of Kentucky; two grandchildren, Roger Spade and Pam Brenckle (Guy); two great-grandchildren, Alec and Melody Brenckle; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, at the First Congregational Church.

SPADY, Rachel Lydia - June 15, 1921 - March 25, 2007 With sadness we announce the passing of Rachel Spady of Stony Plain on March 25 at the age of 85 years. She is lovingly remembered by her four sisters: Anna Miller, Frieda Moroz, Eda Meckle and Esther Weale as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents: Elizabeth and Frederick Spady and three brothers: Samuel, Carl and Paul. She

He was born July 9, 1941, in Burlington, Colo.

GARDEN CITY - Mary Edith Staab, 50, died Sept. 27, 2007, at her home, Garden City.
She was born Nov. 11, 1956, in Holton, the daughter of Elmer and Rose Ann Martin Staab. A resident of Garden City since 1982, moving from Valley Falls, she was a microbiologist and worked as a lab technician for Tyson Foods. She graduated Valley Falls High School in 1975; attended Benedictine College, Atchison, from 1974 to 1976; and later received her degree in microbiology from Kansas State University.
She attended First Assembly Of God Church, Garden City.
Survivors include: a son, Matthew S. Truong, of the home; and her mother, Rose Ann Staab, Lakin.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Valley Falls. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, and Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home, Valley Falls. Burial will be in Valley Falls Cemetery. BUCKLIN - Perry B. Staats, 95, died Oct. 3, 2007, at Hill Top House Nursing Home, Bucklin.
He was born July 13, 1912, near Coats, the son of Floyd A. and Mattie A. Moore Staats. A longtime resident of Bucklin, he was a farmer and stockman.
He belonged to Bucklin United Methodist Church, serving on many boards and committees, and was a longtime member of the Bucklin Co-Op Board of Directors.
On Feb. 27, 1938, he married Pauline E. PRICE, in Pratt. She died May 5, 2006.
Survivors include: four sons, Ray, and Thomas, both of Wichita, Kenneth, Spearville, and Gary, Bucklin; a daughter, Joann Roth, Dodge City; four brothers, Ebert, Topeka, Richard, Garland, Texas, and Ed, and Merle, both of Pratt; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Abram, John and Stanley; and three sisters, Mary Ellen Staats, Laura Hughbanks, and Floy Comly.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bucklin United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Williams presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin. LITTLE RIVER -- Lillian Stahl Moll, 101, Little River, died Sunday, April 8, 2007.

Mrs. Moll was born Lillian Stahl on Nov. 9, 1905, in rural Rice County. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, A. B. "Bud" (MOLL), died in 1980.

Survivors include a brother, William H. Stahl of Lawrence.

RUSSELL — Darrell Gene Standley, 69, of Russell, died Nov. 14 (2007) at the Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita. Darrell was born on Jan. 3, 1938, in Osborne County, on the family farm north of Lucas in the Delhi community. He was the son of Hugh M. and Lida D. (Sigle) Standley. He grew up in the Delhi community and attended country schools up to the eighth grade and attended two years’ high school in the Delhi area.

Darrell was united in marriage to Gladys BOXBERGER on June 26, 1960, at St. John Lutheran Church in Russell. They lived in Lucas and later moved and made their home in Russell and have lived there since 1961. Later they were blessed with two sons named Brian and Brad. Darrell began his work history for Bob Sparry Welding in Lucas. Later he worked as a mechanic for Ford Motor Co., then worked for Central Machine Shop in Russell. He left Central Machine Shop and worked for Boxberger Tank Service for one year before going back to Central Machine Shop. In November of 1970 he became owner and operator of the Central Machine Shop, which he operated with his sons.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, trap shooting and was a member of the ATA and KTA trap shooting organizations. He also enjoyed fishing, restoring old vehicles and going to his Bible study card group.

He is survived by his wife Gladys of the home, sons Brian Standley and wife Rachelle and Bradley Standley and wife Rosie, all of Russell; brother Harold Standley of Kensington; two sisters, Lola Luder of Russell and Doris Langerman of Lucas; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harvey and Donald Standley.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church in Russell. Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present this evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell. Helen Leona Rohr, 89, died Aug. 1 at her residence in Great Bend. Born Aug. 21, 1917, in Ness City, she was the daughter of Andrew and Rosa Dinges Stecklein. She married Fred A. ROHR on Sept. 29, 1941, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ness City. He died Nov. 24, 1994. A resident of Great Bend since 1954, coming from Ness City, she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Rohr was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick and Altar Society.

Survivors include two sons, Ron Rohr and wife Patty of Great Bend and George Rohr of Columbia, Mo.; three sisters, Lenora Springer and Frieda Ureita, both of Denver, Colo., and Sister Lillian Stecklein of Wichita; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Edgar Stecklein, Marvin Stecklein, Paul Stecklein and Frank Stecklein; two sisters, Lillian Linenberger and Ida Wilber; and a grandson, Mitch Rohr.

Herman Adolph Steimel, 87, Salina, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007.
Mr. Steimel was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Spearville, to Adolph and Anna Durler Steimel. He co-owned S & H Lumber Co. of Claflin, retiring in 1984. He previously worked for Colorado Flour Mills.
He married Waneta VOGEL on Jan. 15, 1946, in Wright.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Salina, a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus, lifetime and past commander of the VFW, Claflin, parish council member of Immaculate Conception Church, Claflin, and former member of the Claflin housing board.
He served in the U.S. Army in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II.
He loved gardening, sports, card playing and family gatherings.
He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn, in 1999; and a daughter-in-law, Maridell Steimel, in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Waneta A., of the home; two sons, Robert and wife Lorene of Concordia and Lyle and wife Barbara of Cincinnati; three daughters, Carol Ahlvers and husband David and Rose Steimel, all of Salina, and Sharon Steimel and husband Steve Thomas of Hays; two brothers, Alfred of Wright and Raymond of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Teresa Barragree of Dodge City and Bertha Woodward of Wichita; 14 grandchildren, Rodella Strait and husband Jay, Pam Weiderholt and husband Scott, Deborah Clair and husband Joe, Charles Steimel and wife Sarah, Carrie Beth Steimel, Leslie Amick and husband Andrew, Nolan Ahlvers, Jessica Smith, Adam Steimel, Kimberly Steimel, Daniel Steimel, Kelly Giebler and husband Trevor, Eric Thomas and Drew Thomas; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Salina, Father Frank Coady officiating. Burial, with military rites by Fort Riley, will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina. A rosary will be said at a vigil at 7 p.m. today at the church. Memorials may be made to the church.
