HILLSBORO - Gerald Lloyd Davis, 78, died Dec. 15, 2007, at Hillsboro.
He was born Nov. 4, 1929, in Protection, the son of Robert and Elsie Marie Jantzen Davis. He was a janitor. He belonged to Alexanderfeld Mennonite Church.
On Jan. 25, 1948, he married Eva Elizabeth GIESBRECHT. She died in 2006.
Survivors include: three sons, Harold, McPherson, Roy, Durham, and Leland, Inez, Texas; a brother, Don, Sandpoint, Idaho; two sisters, Della Nichols, Winton, Calif., and Ethel Steiner, Moundridge; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dollena Wiebe.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Alexanderfeld Mennonite Church, one mile west and one mile south of Hillsboro, with Ministers Orlin Ensz, and Gordon Koehn presiding. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with the family present. Burial will be in Alexanderfeld Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Hillsboro. Memorials may be sent to Hope Valley Christian School, in care of Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro.

PALCO -- Rosa May Keller, 90, Palco, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007.
Mrs. Keller was born Rosa May Davis on March 31, 1917, in Ellis County. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar (KELLER), in 1973; and a grandchild.
Survivors include a son, Melvin O. of Palco; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, north of Ellis. Burial will be in St. John's Church Cemetery. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Wasinger-Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis 67637. Memorials may be made to St. John's building fund. LENEXA -- Delma Irene Dumler, 84, Lenexa, formerly of Russell, died Sunday, May 6, 2007.

Mrs. Dumler was born Delma Irene Deines on Jan. 18, 1923, southwest of Russell. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by two infant great-grandsons.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph (DUMLER), of Lenexa; three sisters, Edna Mai and Estella Boxberger, both of Russell, and Rosetta King of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Patricia Loriaux of Lenexa and Leanna Walters of Lake Quivira; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, Russell.

Mr. Deines was born Dec. 14, 1913, in Lincoln. He was a retired railroad conductor for Burlington Northern Railroad.

BEATRICE - Emma Deines, 93, died Wednesday Aug. 29, 2007, at the Beatrice Developmental Center.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Mitchell City Cemetery with Dr. William Bibb officiating.

Emma was born Sept. 19, 1913, in Sterling, Colo. to John and Mary (Bauer) Deines. She has been a resident at the Beatrice State Developmental Center in Beatrice since Jan. 1, 1944.
Emma loved her collections of hats and jewelry.

Marie Elizabeth WILHELM , 100, of Fort Collins passed away April 18, 2007.

Marie was born in Trego County, Kan., on May 24, 1906, to David and Elisabeth Deines Jr., and was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church, Trego Center, Kan.

Her family moved to Galatia, Kan., where she met and married Alexander WILHELM in 1929 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They moved back to WaKeeney until 1942, then moved to Denver and on to Fort Collins in 1946. Marie was a current member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. She enjoyed traveling and music. Marie loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her brother, Paul Deines of WaKeeney, Kan., and her sisters, Rachel and Ella Fabrizius of WaKeeney, Kan. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Lauren Andrist of Fort Collins, Lynelle Shubert of WaKeeney and Ryan Andrist of Fort Collins; and six great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alexander, daughter LaVonne, three brothers and one sister.

There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 20, at Allnutt Riverside Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Collins.

There will be an interment and graveside service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 23, at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Collins. Rachel Fabrizius, 91, WaKeeney, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at Trego County Lemke-Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney. She was born Dec. 11, 1915, in rural Galatia to David and Elisabeth (Dietz) Deines, She attended schools near Galatia.
She married August FABRIZIUS on Nov. 16, 1939, in Trego Center. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1986. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Lanny Fabrizius and Kenneth Fabrizius, both of WaKeeney; three daughters, Judith Graham, WaKeeney, Kathleen Richter, Plainville, and Janice Fabrizius, Merriam; a brother, Paul Deines, WaKeeney; a sister, Ella Fabrizius, WaKeeney; 20 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

LA CROSSE - Lorraine I. Schaffer, 82, died Nov. 9, 2007, at Hays Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Liebenthal, the daughter of Andrew and Veronica Herrman Depperschmidt. A lifelong resident of Rush County, she was a sales clerk until retiring and was the owner of a cake decorating business for many years.
She belonged to St. Michael's Catholic Church, St. Michael's Altar Society and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, all in La Crosse.
On Aug. 7, 1945, she married John C. SCHAFFER in La Crosse. He died Oct. 10, 1991.
Survivors include: a son, Rickey L. "Rick," Wichita; two daughters, Sharon A. Staley, Downs, and Debra K. "Debbie" Haas, La Crosse; two brothers, Ralph Depperschmidt, Lucedale, Miss., and Elmer "Blackie" Depperschmidt, El Reno, Okla.; four sisters, Rita Liggett, Rush Center, Mary Stietz, La Crosse, Genevieve "Neva" Kreutzer, Leoti, and Wilma Depperschmidt, Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Alvin Depperschmidt; and a sister, Annie Young.

MOUNDRIDGE - Lizzie Dyck died June 27, 2007, at Memorial Home in Moundridge, Kan. She was one month short of being 105. She was born on Aug. 7, 1902, to Klaas W. and Anna Wiens Dick on a farm five miles Northwest of Inman, Kansas. She had been a resident at Memorial Home since 1989. In 1923 she married Cornelious J. DYCK in Turpin, Okla. They moved to Wichita, Kan. in 1940, where she lived until moving to the Memorial Home. She was a member of the Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church in Wichita since 1948.

Survivors include: two daughters, Norma Jean Goering, Marion Home, Marion, Kan. and Bonnie (Merle) Speer of Green Valley, Ariz. Her surviving grandchildren are Georgia Ensz Harris, Denver, Colo.; Perry Ensz (Willi), Hutchinson, Kan., Lisa Ensz Beynon (Terry), Alexandria, Va.; Rebecca Goering Blair (Jerry), Augusta, Kan.; Jeffery Goering (Letha), Marion, Kan.; Jonathon Goering (Maureen), York, Maine; Mark Speer (Alicia), Centennial, Colo.; and Anne Speer Lusk (Steve), Kansas City, Mo., plus 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great- great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Annie Hiebert, Moundridge, and Sara Ediger, Liberal, Kan. plus eight nieces and four nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years in 1981, her daughter, Juanita Ensz and sons-in-law Melvin Ensz and Richard Goering. The following siblings also preceded her in death, Nick (NW) Dick, Marie Becker, Eva Dirks, Martha Janzen and Agnes Hinz.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Memorial Home. Burial will be at Hoffnungsau Church Cemetery, Inman, Kan. at 1 p.m. Saturday. Visitation 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Moundridge Funeral Home. The family would like to express special thanks for the loving care she received while living in the Memorial Home in Moundridge.

Willis A. Diehl, 76, Hays, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born April 12, 1931, in Hays to Rudolph A. and Anna (Haas) Diehl. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's Military Academy and was a member of the 1948-49 state championship football team.
He married Mary Frances HERL on Sept. 18, 1950, in Hays. He was owner of Bank Marketing Agency Inc., Hays.
He was a member and past Grand Knight of St. Joseph Council third degree Knights of Columbus, a member of Bishop Cunningham Assembly fourth degree Knights of Columbus, former member of Hays Recreation Commission, and was active in the Little League Baseball program.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; four sons, Steve Diehl and wife, Pam, Wichita, Bob Diehl and wife, Mary Beth, and Glenn Diehl and wife, Becky, all of Hays, and Kevin Diehl and wife, Kelly, Topeka; two brothers, Daniel Diehl, Wichita, and Ron Diehl, Hays; two sisters, Eileen Bieker, Goddard, and Diana Zimmerman, Great Bend; 11 grandchildren, Jeff Diehl, Kasey Diehl, Tom Diehl, Mike Diehl, Greg Diehl, Lucas Diehl, Magen Diehl, Ryan M. Clifford "Cliff' Dietrich, 82, of Scottsbluff, was freed into glory Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, while at home surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Mitchell Berean Church with Pastor Scott Mathis officiating. A private family interment will be held earlier that day at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Stegall Road near the family ranch. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Rock or the donor's choice. Cliff was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Gering, to Henry J. and Anna (Schlotthauer) Dietrich. He grew up in rural Gering and attended Gering Schools. On February 23, 1947, he married Nadine SCHMUCK, the love of his life. Together they briefly operated a flower shop in Gering before farming in the Cedar Valley area for 23 years. During this time, Cliff received numerous awards for Great Western Sugar Company high yield production and served as a member of Cedar Canyon School Board. He also acquired a keen interest in John Deere farming equipment that continued throughout his lifetime.
In 1970, Cliff purchased the family ranch in Hull Community south of Stegall. There his career goals were fulfilled tending to the cattle and meticulously maintaining the fencing and windmills up until the end of his life. To supplement ranching, Cliff and Nadine also worked together as a team as licensed real estate brokers in the valley for over 30 years, holding memberships in the National Board of Realtors and Scotts Bluff County Board of Realtors associations.
Cliff was a cowboy at heart who loved his horse Reno, rodeo, western saddles, spurs, hats and boots. Although he never hunted, Cliff possessed an unquenchable passion for firearms that directly related to ongoing research he conducted on the topics of American history and western art. He was a contributing author in the second edition of the Winchester Book and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Cliff was dearly loved by his wife, children and grandchildren whom he likewise cherished. He firmly believed each one of them would continue to faithfully live out his legacy through their unique God-given talents and personal aspirations.
Survivors include his wife Nadine; daughters, Roxanne (Randy) Smith of Missoula, Mont., and Natalie (David) Jenkins of Scottsbluff; son, Oak Lee (Crystal) Dietrich of Grand Junction, Colo.; granddaughters, Dr. Natasha Jenkins of Scottsbluff, and Jaclyn Jenkins of St. Louis, Mo.; grandsons, Ryan Smith of New York, N.Y., Graham Smith of Missoula, and Mitchel Dietrich of Grand Junction; brother, Elmer Dietrich of Gering; and close friends, Dan Phinney and Terry Jessen both of Scottsbluff.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Melvin Dietrich.

ELLIS - Luther H. Dietz, 86, died April 11, 2007, at the Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Neb.

He was born June 26, 1920, in Barton County, the son of Siegmond and Ida Deines Dietz. A resident of Ellis, moving from Hutchinson, he was a retired nursing home administrator. He belonged to Christ Lutheran Church, Ellis.

On June 24, 1978, he married Freda FLAX in Kinsley. She survives.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Gaylene Zehr, Rockwell City, Iowa, LaDonna Steinberg, Manson City, Iowa, and Shari Brosz, O'Neill, Neb.; a brother, Markus Dietz, McPherson; three sisters, Helen Landon, Wichita, Esther Karst, Hoisington, and Leona Kauffman, Abilene; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a step-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a son, Loren Dietz; a brother, Edwin Dietz; and a sister, Rosie Nulik.
